It's hard to argue that 2025 hasn't been a neverending suckfest, but Violent Way have still managed to get some cool shit done. "The year started on an amazing U.S. tour with our brothers in Agnostic Front and Murphy’s Law," Violent Way guitarist/vocalist Nick Terlecky told me over email a few days ago. With deep ties to the Buffalo hardcore scene, the Oi! band formed back in 2020.
Nick was clearly psyched to be on the road with some NYHC legends. "These guys have treated us like family and this is easily the most fun we’ve ever had on the road, oh and not to mention, these bands are our heroes and it’s an incredible honor to tag along with them."
In addition to the Agnostic Front/Murphy's Law tour, Violent Way played their 3rd Annual “Oi!’s of Summer” hometown show in June with The Templars, and they also supported Michael McColgan and the Bomb Squad in Boston over the Summer. "This year was about quality over quantity and getting everything else in order after going so hard the last few years with the band. As of last month, we are back to being a 4 piece with Drew Stark on second guitar. We're stoked to have our brother back in the fold, when you hear this new record you’ll understand why!"
Recorded and mixed by our Jay Zubricky in GCR Audio in Buffalo, the new album, their third, is called A Need for Something More and will be out by the end of the year. Violent Way previously released two songs from the forthcoming LP—"I'll Ask You" and "They Said"—and another one just dropped another one called "My Dearest Friend" today.
"These three songs are a taste of what’s to come without giving away the staple tracks of the new record. Expect catchy choruses, anthemic leads, and our sound fully realized with this LP."
Since I'm seeing more and more new Oi! bands popping up this year, I asked Nick for his thoughts on it:
"I love to see it but I will say since the initial Oi! resurgence boom a few years back, the opportunists have seemed to move onto other things. If you’re involved and waving the flag right now it’s because you really love this shit and it shows! This is a band I’d do and community I’d be active in regardless of any sort of success or numbers. "
Violent Way will be heading out on the road again with their friends in Agnostic Front to close the year out on a U.S. tour. Colombian straight edge hardcore heroes Raw Brigade will also be on the trek. All of the dates are listed below
