It's been great to see Excide's progress in these last few years. Included on my 12 Newer Hardcore Bands to Check Out list in 2021, the band's dynamic blend of '90s-flavored hardcore and propulsive post-hardcore rhythms has shined brightly on each of their releases, especially 2022's Deliberate Revolver, their debut studio album.
Excide have clearly made fans of the folks at SharpTone Records who just signed the quintet to their roster, joining such bands as Dying Wish, Better Lovers, and Comeback Kid. It's a big look for the North/South Carolina outfit and will undoubtedly expose the group to a wider audience.
The maiden release for the new Excide/SharpTone union is a dual single called Humdinger. Excide have just dropped a music video for one of the new tracks, "Dis(re)member." The clip was directed and produced by Tyler Norris of Foreign Hands, a band that Excide vocalist Tyler Washington plays drums in:
Excide vocalist Tyler Washington says the following about the new track:
“‘Dis(re)member’ is about leaving behind the person you were in the past. It doesn’t matter if it was a good or bad version of you. You’re simply not letting this person influence your current decisions and how you do things. The song fell together naturally and really showed where we’re at.”
Humdinger is out now via SharpTone Records.
