In the last year or so, I have found myself covering more hardcore bands out of Indonesia than ever before. Today, I'm turning my attention to a group based in the country's South Tangerang region called No Remain.
"The band’s early formation featured Jessica on vocals, with myself on bass, Zaky and Andal on guitars, and Timothy on drums," bassist Lancaster told me via email. "Later, Adit Blak and Iyong took over guitar duties. The vocal spot eventually shifted to Liza, who fronted the band through multiple eras (at one point with Wahid on drums and Nugroho on guitar.) The next lineup with Liza also recorded the first EP: Reminiscence (2025), which marked Adit Blak and Andal’s return to the band, also introduced Tandu as the new drummer.
"In 2025, Latisha (from Jakarta) became the newest frontwoman, continuing the legacy of powerful female voices in No Remain. She now leads the current lineup alongside myself on bass, Andal and Adit Blak on guitars, and Tandu on drums—marking the sixth and current formation of No Remain."
Now that we've gotten the membership info out of the way, how about No Remain's stylistic viewpoint? "We’re a hardcore band built on heavy, groove-driven riffs—the kind that hit as hard as a UFC heavyweight in full mount," Lancaster proudly wrote me.
"Our sound blends '90s hardcore spirit with modern, lossless clarity production. The vocals are female-fronted, heavy, cold, and aggressive, but still distinctly feminine. No fake growls, just raw expression, a real fury."
No Remain's latest single, “Cognitive Dissonance Prevails," is the first release with Latisha behind the microphone. "It’s a direct response to the hypocrisy we see every day—people with dirty hands pointing fingers," she wrote me about the song's lyrics.
"The song is about living in contradiction, justifying every lie, and the mental toll it takes. We’ve always carried the same rage and purpose: to speak for those who can’t."
Latisha filled me in on No Remain's upcoming plans: "We’re playing more shows, hitting new cities, Java tour, and planning a full-length album hopefully finished at the end of 2025. We’re also working on more visuals and merch drops that reflect our ethos. Expect something louder, rougher, and even more honest. We’re not slowing down."
