Their formation story:
(Shafa, vocals): "Spitrage was formed in 2024 in Depok, Indonesia. It started out as a casual project among close friends—myself, Iman (guitar), and Dave (bass). Initially, we had no serious plans, just making music for fun. Things began to pick up after we contributed our first single, 'Solitude,' to the Hutang Akhir Tahun compilation in 2024. That release opened the door to more live gigs and encouraged us to create more music.
"Later that year, we dropped our second single, 'No More Retreat,' a collaboration with Adtria Fachri of Vvachrri. In 2025, we released 'Holding Grief (Demo)' via Bandcamp and our latest Maxi Single, Desire I Lack—available on Spotify, Bandcamp, and other DSPs. The new release came out on July 4th, 2025 under Knowing Records. All our tracks have been recorded at Kinetik Records with our close friend, Viko Vieraldo."
Their sound in their own words:
"While we originally considered ourselves a hardcore band, over time we realized that our sound blends a variety of our personal influences. So rather than stick to one label, we’ve embraced a mix of hardcore, sludge, and stoner elements, incorporating heavy reverb, distortion, hints of punk, and blast beats.
"Our main influences include Weekend Nachos, Buggin, and Gatecreeper, though bands like Converge and Eyehategod have also played a significant role in shaping our sound."
Latest release info:
"Most recently, we released Desire I Lack through Knowing Records on July 4th, 2025, featuring the tracks 'Intro/Corrupted' and 'Desire I Lack.' These songs reflect our deep-seated anxiety in dealing with today’s complex world—from economic hardships and political tension to unresolved personal struggles.
"We collaborated with Kinetik Records on recording, production, mixing, and mastering. 'Intro/Corrupted' was composed by Iman and David, with lyrics written by David. 'Desire I Lack' was a collaborative composition between David, myself, and Viko Vieraldo, with lyrics written by me."
Future plans:
"We recently had the honor of opening for Kilat’s SEA Tour as part of 'The Chosen Few' series by Ordo Nocturno, sharing the stage with great bands like Negatifa, Rassuk, and Feral Wound. Following that, we dropped our new music and are hoping this leads to more opportunities—whether it’s more gigs, touring, or bigger stages.
"We’re also planning to return to the studio soon to begin work on our debut EP, which we aim to release either next year or sooner."

"We’d love to highlight a few bands from our local scene that we think deserve more attention: Basted, Flesh, and Hasss. Beyond that, there are many other heavy Indonesian acts worth checking out, such as Hardik (Bandung), Find New Mercy (Malang), Sucka (Bandung), and Niterblast (Tangerang)."
