Locust Abortion Technician: Darkened, Bloodlet-Like Spirit Is Alive in Texas Band’s Sound

With a name taken from a Butthole Surfers album, you know Locust Abortion Technician isn't writing pop-punk anthems.

"We take from Vision of Disorder, Bloodlet and Hum, and another huge influence on our formative years of this band was '90s Gulf Coast sludge/death metal bands such as Acid Bath and Abuse," says vocalist Antonio B. of Locust Abortion Technician's sound.

The San Antonio, Texas-based outfit formed in 2023, but the band's roots stretch back further. "My brother Louie D. (drums) and I have material and songs dating back as far as 2018. What held us back was us playing in other bands and conflicting schedules. It wasn’t until this past year we finally made time to solidify a lineup, put out our debut promo, and begin focusing on this project."

Locust Abortion Technician recently released L.A.T., a 5-song EP that reveals new musical layers with each listen:

"We just released our debut EP through Coreruption Records and played a sick release show with some homies," says Antonio. "As for the future, we want to keep writing and are planning on dropping a 2-song promo by the end of 2024, as well as doing a run playing some out-of-state shows around the same time.

"If you’re a promoter and you’re reading this: hit us up, we are always wanting to play more shows. If you’re in a band and wanting to come to Texas, hit us up as well."
