Richmond hardcore outfit Guardrails is gearing up for the release of their inaugural EP, If You Please. Anything but parvenus, these hard scrabble RVA punks will forcibly make you hear precisely why we've been supporting them from their very start in 2020.
No Echo is thrilled to land the exclusive premiere of “How Many Times?," the fourth track from the aforementioned EP. Much like their opening gambit and the early 2022 stopgap Live @ The Ward, Guardrails excels at knockdown long player drama in short bursts.
Sure to gratify the greediest fans of both fast hardcore and the crush groove of NYHC, it’s the tacked on accoutrements that elevate the song:
Flush with a stylish vocal fade and a nasty run of isolated bass, it drips with the sort of blue blood bile we’ve come to expect from core born in the Commonwealth. They even manage to drop a final flourish… as the song fades mercifully into quiet, an unsettling and oddly picked audio sample fits well with their genre hopping hostility.
The Next Gen is here. Hop on so you can say you knew ‘em back when.
If You Please will be out on April 22nd on Guardrails' Bandcamp page and all digital outlets.
