Band: Trash Diva
From: Baltimore, Maryland
Their formation story:
"Nikki (vocals), Annie (bass), Chuck (drums), and Mike (guitar) have been playing together in different bands and configurations for a few years. We all decided independently that we wanted to do a new band, something heavier and faster, so in January of 2023 we started writing and on 5/23/23 we played our first show to a packed room of friends and freaks in Baltimore."
Their sound in their own words:
"We grab ideas from everywhere and everything. We're super-inspired by the current crop of sick hardcore bands like Punitive Damage, Anklebiter, GEL, Scowl, Spaced, Gumm, Buggin, and so many more...as well as classic hardcore from Black Flag to Coalesce to Every Time I Die.
"You'll also catch us listening to stuff like Selda Bağcan, Thelonius Monk, and Cupcakke. Van rides get weird."
Latest release info:
"Our first demo single is called 'Idols.' It's about how 'putting someone on a pedestal' not only makes it harder for you to see them clearly, but it makes you see yourself less clearly too. Better to look the dirty truth in its tired eyes than to wallow in comforting fictions.
"The song was recorded/mixed/mastered by Mike at our practice space. Drums, bass, and one guitar were recorded live. We overdubbed the second guitar and the vocals. Pretty straightforward punk shit."
Future plans:
"MORE SHOWS MORE MUSIC MORE SHOWS MORE MUSIC
"We're working on songs for a full length, trying stuff out live, demo-ing tracks. We'd love to do an EP or LP within the year. Label types, get at us!"
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"B.R.A.T, Tripper, Jivebomb, Gasket, End Reign, Manners Manners, a little unknown up-and-comer called Turnstile."
