New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Steel Deal

Band: Steel Deal
From: Darmstadt, Germany

Their formation story:
(Sebastian, vocals): "Some of us already played in bands before and we´ve known each other from our local scene around Darmstadt. So the idea of doing a new band was around since 2018, but as probably anyone knows, life gets in the way sometimes. We finally formed Steel Deal around late Summer 2024.

"When telling Matin and Hannah (Angeschimmelt Youth Crew; they put on great shows in Darmstadt) about the band, they had the idea of putting us up at the Halloween Mosh in the Oetinger Villa in Darmstadt. Yes, Steel Deal's first show was both on Halloween and a hometown gig! The turnout was crazy! It was a room full of friends and when we started with the Intro of 'Soul Sacrifice' by Power Trip, the room exploded."

Their sound in their own words:
"We try to blend punkish guitar chords into a straight-ahead hardcore approach. The members of Steel Deal all listen to a lot of different musical styles. Marco is more into heavier stuff (World of Pleasure, Supernova, Glow from Cologne). Odo listens to a lot of Youth Crew and posicore (Mil- Spec, Turning Point, One Step Closer).

"As a band, we just sit together and work stuff out, so it’s a lot of influences reaching from older Ceremony (Felix´influence) or This Routine is Hell to Justice or Righteous Jams. Leo and I also love bands like Foreseen, so we try to sneak in some metal riffs or guitar solos.

"I'd say we make music for fans of Ceremony, Primitive Blast, Suspect, Bulls Shit, and T.S. Warspite, to name a few bands."

Latest release info:
"So we released our demo in May 2025 and celebrated it by doing a weekend trip with our buddies Compete from Vienna (probably the best hardcore band Austria has ever seen). We released it via STTW Records, aka the Headquarters of Rhineline Hardcore. It´s a label run by Thessy and Sebi.

"We were really stoked we got to release it together with our friends. The artwork is done by a friend of mine, Steffen Bayer, and the layout was
done by Quentin (the drummer of Compete). So a lot of friends involved and a lot of fun went into the whole project. But we will be back in the studio of Fred HC (Darmstadt Local Hero) in November for record 3 tracks for our Promo Tape."

Future plans:
"So the plan is to release the promo tape as well as play two upcoming shows: November 8th in Neu-Isenburg together with Recession (Collective Memory Records Heavy Hitters), WOAT (Vegan Mosh Metal), Blinded (Darmstadt Straight Edge Young Guns), and Devoratize (Egelsbach Death Metal). The show was set up by the legend, Oskar.

"We'll also be playing UBF-Fest in December with Spirit Crusher, Force of Denial, Between Bodies, Glow, Even if the Sky is Falling Down, Once and for All, and Spideweb. What a lineup! Shoutout to Andy for asking us to play."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"So probably any RhineLine hardcore band is worth checking out. I will list as many as possible: Spirit Crusher, Force of Denail, Slon, Placid, Spiderweb, Preemptive Strike, Detonator, Chemical Threat,  Recession, Once and for All, Compete, Knifelong, Backwards Charm, Blinded, Rainbow Curse, ONE, Look Ahead, True Fraud, PHIZ, Spiritual Law, Echo Chamber, Krude, Phase (RIP), ANGST (RIP), Pluto
the Racer, Reflexxx, BIB, Suspect, No Laughing Matte, PUS, I Recover, Wedding Songs, Blockage, Spiral, Face Your Fears, Mortal Form, Scuffle, Ritualize, Thrufall, Fragment, Fear of Sin, Glow, Leap of Faith, Mercy, Drink Deep, Lethal Hate, and probably a lot more!
