Their formation story:
(Daniel Ludwick, vocals): "Ember was formed out of the ashes of older projects, either collapsing or never making it to the public. I had a bunch of songs stockpiled that we sifted through and reworked into what eventually became A Light in the Dark. After about a year of updating tracks and ironing out the kinks, we landed on the final product.
"Ember shares members with a ton of current and past Edmonton bands, including Slumlord, Eyes Front, End Game, False Body, Sealed Fate, Boiling Lye, Fold, and Anathematize."
Their sound in their own words:
"Ember pulls from a pretty wide range of influences, but overall we’re heavily inspired by early 2000s hardcore, punk, and metalcore.
"FFO: Death Threat, Rude Awakening, Harness, Wendy’s lemonade, d-beats, and double-kick breakdowns."
Latest release info:
"A Light in the Dark was written over the course of two years. The songs focus on both internal and external struggles I’ve dealt with throughout my life. The goal of the release was to create authentic music that we genuinely believe in while carrying a strong message about friendship and overcoming adversity.
"This EP wouldn’t be what it is without the hard work of Mike and Justin, our guitarist and drummer. Huge thanks as well to Ryan Berehulke for recording and mixing, Josh Fernandez for mastering, and Joel Provencher for the artwork.
"In loving memory of our brother, Dylan Mackay."
Future plans:
"We’ve got a few shows lined up this summer and are planning a Western Canada run while continuing to write for the next release and work on additional content.
"We’d love to travel as much as possible, so if you want us in your city, hit us up."
