Band: Beg to Differ
From: Queens, New York
Their formation story:
(Guitarist Vito Oliva) "We formed late last year, wrote some material, scrapped it, and then came up with this release. Joe and I have been playing music together since Junior High. We turned to the scene for help finding a vocalist and Andrew Vacante (Combust) introduced us to Marquis (Bazooka).
"We are all Queens, New York born and raised and proud of it. There's a lot of hardcore history here."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our influences, at least from a riffs standpoint include Cro-Mags, The Icemen, Crumbsuckers, anything '80s/early '90s NYHC. Not sure how much of that comes across in the demo, but that's where our intentions are."
Latest release info:
"This is our first release. We wrote and recorded it just the three of us. Joe's never played drums before, and basically hopped on just so we could get this going. Thats just how you have to do it sometimes. Our friend Alex Shirzay in Island Park helped us out big time with the recording. Chris Wilson created the artwork."
Future plans:
"We will be planning some New York shows come January/February, hopefully. We need to fill out our lineup a bit so we are looking for a drummer and maybe second guitar. There's also a bunch of new material in the pipe."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Combust released a legendary LP this year. Shoutouts to Bazooka, Ekulu, Illusion, Cutdown, and Never Again."
