Manchester, New Hampshire metallic hardcore band Justifications have released their debut single, “Urge to Kill.”
The new band features The Red Chord founding members Guy Kozowyk (vocals) and Kevin Rampelberg (guitar), alongside guitarist Mark MacDonald (Austrian Death Machine), bassist Jason Edney, and drummer Tony Hersey. “Justifications is intended to be direct and fun. A knee-jerk reaction to the world around us,” Kozowyk says of the project.
“Urge to Kill” was recorded by Kevin Billingslea (Lamb of God, Cruel Hand), with mixing and mastering handled by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Rob Zombie). According to Kozowyk, the song’s aggressive lyrics are ultimately about restraining impulses rather than acting on them.
“I was on a mission to deliver lines that sounded abrasive but were also legible,” Kozowyk explains. “I have a great appreciation for vocalists who are both brutal and can enunciate. If you actually have something to say, I want to hear it.”
Justifications will make their live debut on September 19 at Broken Goblet Brewing in Bensalem, Pennsylvania with Deadguy, followed by a September 26 show at Henniker Brewing Company in Henniker, New Hampshire with Pathogenic.
The band’s debut album is scheduled for release in 2027 through Kozowyk’s Black Market Activities.
