Fronted by vocalist Theresa Vendetta, Jawless formed a few years ago after the members crossed paths at a Discharge show—an appropriately chaotic beginning for a band rooted in hardcore and punk tradition. “We are a bunch of immigrants living in London,” Vendetta explains. “We formed Jawless a few years back, as we met at a Discharge show. We bought our drummer later in Sports Direct.”
Musically, Vendetta points to Suicidal Tendencies, Municipal Waste, and Scowl as key influences, though the band’s sound reflects the diverse musical backgrounds of its members. “We sound hardcore punk with a very big taste of thrash and skate punk,” she says.
The band’s latest release, the upcoming EP Inside & Out, features four songs recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with producer Marcela Faragone. For Vendetta, the record is deeply personal. The songs reflect the emotional experience of living abroad—balancing struggle, heartbreak, and uncertainty with determination and community. “The songs talk about struggles by living in another country and never feeling completely accepted, about heartbreak, about skateboarding,” she says. “But it’s from a very optimistic point of view—about never giving up and keeping close to your people.”

Vendetta adds that the band’s immigrant experience has shaped the message behind the EP. “As immigrants, we have no family here, so our friends became our family—and that’s beautiful,” she says.
“This EP is about my own story living in this country and the feelings I have been through in this journey.”
Beyond their own work, Vendetta says the London hardcore scene continues to grow and diversify. “London’s scene has always been amazing,” she says. “I’m loving seeing more women, non-binary, trans people, and diversity growing in the scene.” She also highlights several UK bands worth checking out, including Supernova, Fantazmaz, Yur Mum, Shooting Daggers, Shit Stirrers, Clobber, Le Rox, Face Up!, Peruvian Necktie, Nylon, and Sneer.
Vendetta closes with gratitude to the people who helped Jawless move forward. “Thanks to everyone who supports us in any way—to you who are reading this,” she says. “And big up Carlos and the No Echo team for keeping the scene alive.”
