Band: Spirit of Vengeance
From: Toronto, Ontario
Their formation story:
(Vocalist Elijah): "I wanted to start a band for a minute and Mitch hit me up to play drums in it and Rezdog was down to play guitar, Blaine literally learned bass for this band, and originally our boy Rob was on second guitar but he has another project called Force of Will.
"Our main focus was just to make ignorant fun music and with me being black and indigenous, and Rezdog being indigenous, we really wanted to represent that in our music as well."
Their sound in their own words:
Our sound and style is influenced by a plethora of things but mainly '90s/early '00s hardcore, and slam. Infusing those with elements of what's going on in the present day world of hardcore is how we've crafted SOV's unique identity in the Toronto/Southern Ontario hardcore scene.
"Some direct influences are: Neglect, Merauder, Devourment, and Crowbar."
Latest release info:
"Our newest release is called The Demonstration and it does exactly that. Demonstrating the musical style we're shaping as a group moving forward. Showing the listeners where we are now, and foreshadowing as to what is to be expected in the future."
Future plans:
"The immediate future plans for Spirit of Vengeance is to play as many gigs as possible, build our name up, and branch out. We want to open gigs and cut our teeth as a new band until we can get out and play some shows out of province/out of country."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Ethereal Tomb, Reality Denied, Gavel, Temper Tantrum, Die Alone, Rust, Cohezion, Mile End, Destined to Burn."
