Band: Lethal Force
From: Fort Worth, Texas
Their formation story:
(Tyler, drums): "After being in a hardcore band with Caleb (bass) and some other DFW locals for nearly a year, I felt it was time to create my own project. With no end goal in mind, Caleb and I started jamming on the side, and eventually wrote/demoed 4 songs: 'Beef,' 'Bastard,' 'Tet Offensive,' and 'Aim to Kill.'
"I knew Lucas from Caleb’s former band, True Colours, and asked him to front the band, knowing he had stage/touring experience. We weren’t completely set on the idea of being a 3 piece, and eventually asked Caleb’s younger brother Sam to take the lead on guitar."
Their sound in their own words:
(Caleb, bass): "I’d describe the sound on Volume One as hardcore with some light crossover influences. When I was writing the guitar parts I was doing my best impressions of No Warning, Power Trip, Iron Age, and Backtrack. I’d say now with Sam taking over most of the riff writing duties, we’re leaning more into crossover territory."
(Lucas, vocals): "I’d like to think my style comes from a lot of the early '00s hardcore bands I was introduced to in my teenage years. My love for a good group chat really gets me going. If you’re a fan of Black My Heart, The Mongoloids, or Kids Like Us, that’s a good start to know where I’m coming from."
Latest release info:
(Sam, guitar): "You know it's been extremely fun writing Vol.1 a lot of trial and error, a lot of different songs that we had to cut. Even a lot of writers block. Sometimes the writing sessions were just jamming to see what sounded good to us. I think I recorded some guitar parts like 30 different times till we got the sound we wanted.
"'Icebox' was a riff I worked on for probably almost 3 to 4 weeks until it became something we enjoyed but that's the plus of working with the members of the band they give input and give support. I would say Vol. 1 is very raw and not in a bad way it's very real and its something we can look at and say, 'hey, we fucking did that!'"
Future plans:
(Caleb): "Supporting the new record with live shows! We don’t have anything booked just yet, but there’s some in the works and then writing for the next release which is already in progress."
What other bands from your region should we check out?
(Caleb): "My favorite DFW bands right now are Myth Carver, Bed of Nails, Frost Koffin, and Mass Appeal."
(Tyler): "Law of Man, HEAT, Dysmorphia, Brain Matter, Caustic (OK)."
(Lucas): "Brave Days and Saint Blonde."
(Sam): "I definitely feel like Frost Koffin and Myth Carver are amazing local bands in the DFW area."
