Their formation story:
"Gumskab was formed in January of 2023 as a trioof friends just trying to write short, and to-the-point music: violent, angry, and moshable. We started to demo out a couple songs and brought in friends from other projects. Gumskab turned from side project, to something special in a very short amount of time.
"Recordings were well received by our peers. Chris Linkovich (Terror, Cruel Hand) offered us a spot on Cheap Life Records, which we honor to this day. We represent Maine, to the fullest. Community and Tenacity."
Their sound in their own words:
"If Young and in the Way wrote shorter tracks with more mosh parts. Short passionate songs filled with fast punk parts, blast beats, and reverse power chords. Heavily influenced by the grit and energy of our hometown Biddeford, Maine. Not tough, just pissed."
Latest release info:
"'Golem' is the first track that all 5 of us had a part in writing/recording. We wrote it shortly after becoming a full band and is a great example of what we want to create with Gumskab. Fast, dark, metallic hardcore that packs a punch and leaves you wanting more.
"When talking about potential guest vocal spots for this track, we all agreed Austin from Buried Dreams would fit perfectly and he most certainly did."
Future plans:
"We are currently finishing up recording our next release, a 3-song EP to be released early summer. We are also writing new material for a fall release, as well as playing anywhere and everywhere that we can throughout New England, and hopefully beyond."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Gotta give some love to Misery Whip, they are putting out some of the dopest music in New England right now. The homie Tino Valpa has a full album of fast, pissed, hardcore coming out in July that’s gonna knock your socks off. Heavy Weight from New Hampshire are our boys and dish out that real deal fight music."
