Blending noise-rock, hardcore, and other jagged corners of heavy music, Intercourse return with a new full-length.
Titled How I Fell In Love With the Void, the LP follows 2023’s Halo Castration Institute and last year’s Egyptian Democracy EP, both of which earned the Connecticut band strong praise from fellow heavy music outlets. Along the way, Intercourse have shared stages with heavy hitters like Chat Pile, Deadguy, and The Red Chord, steadily building their profile in the underground.
The new record was tracked with Chris Teti (The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die) at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT. Mixing duties were handled by Teti alongside Greg Thomas, while mastering came courtesy of George Richter (Thy Will Be Done).

"I discovered this band while I was putting Intercourse together and it changed everything! These guys could be a punk band one song and a sludge metal band the next. Their singer Bobby Load is one of my favorites of all time, unfortunately he tragically passed away in 2012.
"These guys should have been on Amphetamine Reptile and ruled the '90s. Tragically, 3/4’s of the lineup on this recording has passed. Also, there’s a documentary about them on YouTube that my brother and I made (Whiskey on Beer)."
Hole, Live Through This (1994)
"This is the best rock album of the '90s. I’ve been listening to it obsessively since it came out. Courtney Love is one of the best lyricists ever and it’s a shame she’s so maligned because of people’s unchecked misogyny. The album they put out before this one, Pretty on the Inside, is one hell of a noise rock album as well."
Ether Coven, The Relationship Between the Hammer and the Nail (2022)
"This album is everything. Honest, vulnerable, and angry. These guys are good friends, especially Pete. To those that don’t know he passed away after a long battle with cancer in July of 2023. This album is sick and the vibe of misery is thick throughout it. Losing him weighed heavily on me and inspired a lot of the lyrical vibe."

"A rare album everyone in the band agrees on. Heavy and fun as hell, but still memorable and full of character. Honest to god masterpiece."

"This is the album that made Converge click for me and turned me from a casual listener to a diehard fan. I love all the new sonic territory they tread on this record while still keeping their riff game immaculate.
"You’ll usually catch me playing the bass riff for ‘Dark Horse’ at sound checks to make sure my shit sounds right."
Russian Circles, Geneva (2009)
"Easily my favorite Russian Circles album, and the gold standard of instrumental tones as far as I’m concerned (no surprise there as it was recorded at Electrical Audio with the esteemed Brandon Curtis and Greg Norman). The bass riff in the title track still makes me want to rip a steel beam in half."
Meet Me In St. Louis, Variations on Swing (2007)
"I am by no means a technique-oriented musician, but this album makes me want to lock myself in a remote cabin and shred until my hands bleed. Extremely cool and detached sounding singer with English accent and some obtuse-ass spectacular lyrics? Check. Riffs that sounds like Don Caballero with skinny jeans and throat tattoos? Also check.
"And the drumming? It took me like 20 listens of the bridge of 'All We Need is A Little Energon and a Lot of Luck' to even understand what the hell was happening! Whenever anyone mentions liking this band I know we’ll be friends."

The Jesus Lizard, Goat (1991)
"The first noise rock band I ever heard, I downloaded ‘Nub’ off of Limewire when I was a kid. It’s an album I’ve come back to a lot since then and I feel like there’s always something new about it to latch on to. Every musician is in peak form and the production is exactly what I want out of a rock record.
"I’ll forever be trying to write a riff half as good as anything Duane Denison wrote on this record. We had the opportunity to see them last year and even now they’re still one of the most immediate and important bands I’ve ever seen."
Guided by Voices, Alien Lanes (1995)
"I ended up listening to this album a lot when we were writing the new record. I think thing I took from it is to try not to over complicate things. Sometimes a perfect hook and some tape hiss is all you need.
"This record is full of strange, compelling, and strangely compelling songs, none of which crack the three minute mark."
