Buñuel is the rare band that reads like a supergroup on paper but never feels like one in practice. Anchored by the singular voice and lyricism of Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow, Whipping Boy) and the serrated guitar work of Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours, , the group is completed by bassist David Haemery and drummer Frank Valente. Together, they operate in a space where noise rock, avant-garde tension, and confrontational intent collide, with no interest in nostalgia or restraint.
The band’s 2024 album Mansuetude, co-released via SKiN GRAFT Records and Overdrive, is a punishing and deliberate listen. Featuring guest appearances from Jacob Bannon (Converge, Umbra Vitae), Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard, Tomahawk), and Megan Osztrosits (Couch Slut), the record sharpens Buñuel’s already hostile edge without ever softening its core. It’s an album built on friction, clarity, and refusal.
