SPEED Announce Debut LP Only One Mode + Release Music Video for Ripping Opening Track

"I’ve never felt more proud to claim Australian hardcore!"

That's what SPEED vocalist Jem Siow told me when I first chatted with him back in 2020. Little did I know at the time how popular his band would become throughout the global hardcore community.

2022's Gang Called Speed EP truly broke the doors open for the quintet, and I was there at Sound and Fury that same year where they were met with a rapturous response from the thousands in attendance that afternoon.

Today, SPEED have announced the forthcoming release of their debut album, Only One Mode. The Sydney-based group is teasing the LP with a music video for its savage-sounding opening track, "Real Life Love." The clip was produced by the band along with Jack Rudder and Thomas Elliot, and is dedicated to their late friend, Tahmid Nurullah, who can be seen throughout the video.

If their previous "Not That Nice" proved, SPEED clearly understand what it takes to make a sick music video, and "Real Life Love" further proves that:

Here is what Jem had to say about the about "Real Life Love":

“My time in hardcore has informed the relationships I have with everyone I hold close. An unconditional sense of love and loyalty. A bond that knows no words. Relationships that now span a lifetime. To us, this unique sense of deep-seated understanding is the essence of hardcore, it's what we're most passionate about and grateful for. Yet there are many in, and especially outside of this space who conflate this idea. If you stick around long enough, you might just get it. Otherwise, what's the point to all of this?”

Only One Mode will be out July 12th via Flatspot Records (USA) and Last Ride Records (AUS).
