The Lungs: LA Trio Deliver Punky Post-Hardcore Mayhem on “Mind Reaper” (PREMIERE)

The Lungs is a power trio initially formed by two musicians based out of No Echo's headquarters of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. The band write music that carries the punch of punk rock and the chaotic yet focused drive of post-hardcore. Think The Bronx meets At the Drive-In in the alleyway after a Drive Like Jehu gig.

Doing their thing since 2016, The Lungs released their debut self-titled EP the next year, following it up with 2018’s Bodysnatchers EP, and in 2019, a split 7” with LA hardcore punks, Total Massacre.

While The Lungs wait for the world to come back to semi-normal status, the band is partnering with No Echo to bring you the premiere of "Mind Reaper," a standalong single that should do a great job of introducing them to the site's readership:

“This cut is just another of our songs about a not-so-far off, dystopian future structures around a bouncy riff," bassist/vocalist Billy Goldstein tells No Echo. "The antagonist, Mind Reaper, believes knowledge and dissidence to be equivalent. The Reaper silences thoughts to stop momentum. The Reaper resents when people align thoughts with fact. The protagonist has a searing knowledge, that when embraced, can vindicate the fallen and save her people and more...”
