Error: Singapore-Based Outfit Produces Vicious Metalcore on New Offering

Based in Singapore, Error is a metallic hardcore band that formed right before the pandemic struck last year. The quintet first came to my attention while I was updating No Echo's 2021 Hardcore Releases playlist on Spotify.

"All of us share somewhat similar influences," Error guitarist Sufi told No Echo via email earlier this week.

"We love the sound of dissonant-heavy bands from the '00s and current aggressive metalcore/hardcore acts such as Vamachara, Vein.fm, and Sanction, to name a few. We also do love nu-metal bands such as Slipknot and Deftones. In short, we just love heavy bands, honestly."

Error's recently released 2-track single ("Error_Error_Error" is an intro) does a bang-up job of crystalizing the group's songwriting approach, and how they incorporate those aforementioned influences:

Since we had Sufi's attention, No Echo took the opportunity to ask him about the Singapore hardcore community and how he thinks Error fits into that picture. "Upon releasing our single, I feel like it has been very much well received within the local scene," said the guitarist.

"It feels great to able to read compliments and messages sent in by listeners, or when people share our music around, be it through social media or verbally, and trust me, we really appreciate every single one of them! We are also in the midst of writing for our upcoming EP, which we hope to release by this year."

"Big shout out to some of our favorite local bands here: Losing End, Doldrey, and Remnants. These guys are some of the finest in the area so do check them out!"
