With a European tour looming, DC hardcore greats Battery have just digitally released "My Last Breath," a song the band recorded in 2017 and was never posted on streaming outlets. The track was featured as NPR's Song of the Day when it was originally released.
Battery vocalist Brian McTernan (also of Be Well, and the producer behind some of your favorite records) told me about some reissue action coming out through Equal Vision Records soon, but I won't spoil that announcement til the label is ready.
The music video for "My Last Breath" is comprised of live footage from Battery's history, including clips captured by Joseph Pattisal and Sven Schurzmann:
Here's what Brian McTernan had to say about the song:
"Writing this with Ken Olden was one of the most monumental moments in my life. At the time, I hadn’t written lyrics for myself in 20 years and I had completely stopped producing as well. This was the beginning of an awaking that I desperately needed, and led me to start Be Well and producing records again. Watching this video is the best reminder of how many people have loved and supported me throughout this wild ride."
