allnewblades have only been together since March, but the Baton Rouge, Louisiana band already have a pretty effective description for what they're doing: “Y2K Mountain Dew PS2 Skate Music.”

“I am fully embracing that label,” drummer Lucien Campton tells No Echo.

allnewblades formed after Campton and guitarist John decided they wanted to move away from the hardcore band they had been playing in together and try something stylistically different. “John had shown me some alternative rock/post-hardcore-type demo tracks that were right up my alley, and it was pretty much up from there,” Campton says.

They recruited friends and former bandmates Cassius on rhythm guitar, Peyton on vocals, and Justin on bass. While everyone comes from a hardcore or metalcore background, allnewblades pull heavily from Hum, Deftones, Catherine Wheel, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. “What seems to be coming out in our music is something we think fans of I Promised the World, Underoath, and Fleshwater would be fond of,” Campton says.

The first taste is “Sweet Grief,” allnewblades’ debut single, recorded with Bobby Burnette (By Any Means, Face Off, Decoy) and mixed and mastered by Marcus Noel.

“We reflect on loss and human connection in ‘Sweet Grief,’ a single that looks past the relentless competition of a capitalist world toward the moments that give life meaning,” the band explains. “The core idea is that warmth, companionship, and real human experiences can help us survive everyday pressures.”

allnewblades plan to release another single in December, followed by their debut EP in early 2027. Weekend runs through Texas and eventually some East Coast dates are also in the works.
