Their formation story:
(Ben, vocals): "Suspend is the brainchild of Eric (guitar) and me. We’ve been friends for a long time and have always shared a love for metallic hardcore. I relocated to Hamilton from Toronto at the end of 2024 and started jamming with Christian (drums), whom I had met from playing in other bands.
"The three of us had a few early jam sessions before we landed on the metallic sound we now have. We brought Kohle (guitar) and Jordan (bass) in to complete the lineup before we went to the studio."
Their sound in their own words:
"I would describe our sound as new school. Our style is largely inspired by '90s hardcore from Canada and the Great Lakes region. We drew a lot of inspiration from bands like Strain, Chokehold, Conviction, and Burst of Silence. We also all love Unbroken."
Latest release info:
"We just released a 3-song EP via Total Supply Records. Harold and Norm, who run the label, are two of my best friends. I have helped them out with label stuff in the past, so it was awesome to get to do this release together. Christian, Jordan, and Kohle are also in Sold Short, which is on the label. We recorded with Mitch Courtois in Welland, Ontario. Shout out to him, he’s a legend. CD copies will be available soon!"
Future plans:
"We don’t have a ton of crazy plans; we‘re all pretty busy with jobs and school. We have a few gigs coming up locally in Toronto. We’re looking forward to playing those and seeing people’s response to the songs. Other than that, we’re going to start working on some new songs to put towards another EP."
