Their formation story:
"Commodity is a melodic hardcore punk band formed in Birmingham, Alabama in 2021. The band started out as a passion project between founding members English Madden, and Chase Kuykendall.
"The lineup saw several changes before their initial self-titled debut release EP in 2023. Commodity quickly gained attention in the local DIY music scene. What began as a punk project soon evolved into a unique blend of melodic hardcore punk that has become a favorite among Birmingham locals."

"Onward to 2024, we just released our Between the Lies EP which features the lineup of English Madden (guitar), Seth Keel (vocals), Tommy Palladino (bass), and Troy Vance (drums). The EP was recorded at the legendary Workplay venue in Birmingham by Shane Hopson.
"Sitting at roughly 15 minutes long, Between the Lines includes guest artists such as Stay Stanley, lead singer of Montgomery, Alabama's own Delta Hate, to gang vocals featuring members of Adlet (band), and Twisted Luck (band). Overall, the lyrics touch on personal struggles, societal issues, the ups and downs of life, creating relatable and thought-provoking songs."
Future plans:
"Our plans including releasing a split later this summer, play as many shows as we can, and hopefully gear up for some small runs (tour) in the winter."
