Only Living Witness: Big News for Fans of Prone Mortal Form & Innocents Albums

It's a great day to be a fan of Only Living Witness. It was just announced that Man Alive Records will be releasing expanded reissues for the band's Prone Mortal Form (1993) and Innocents (1996) albums.

Striking up a unique and magnificent melding of hardcore and metal, the Boston combo was one of my favorite bands to come out of the '90s decade. Both Prone Mortal Form and Innocents still sound as fresh and vital today as they did when they first dropped all those years ago,

I interviewed Only Living Witness vocalist Jonah Jenkins in 2017 and this following quote from that piece speaks a bit about the band's stylistic mindset during their earliest days:

"[Drummer] Eric [Stevenson] and I talked a lot about bands that we had in common: Zoetrope, Holy Terror, Wargasm, Slayer, Cro-Mags, Leeway. Initially, we were still sounding like a mix of the more technical Formicide songs, with some hardcore mixed in, but we were channeling Zoetrope and Holy Terror."

Here's the skinny directly from Man Alive Records:

"The 'Prone Mortal Form' and 'Innocents' reissues will housed in a wide-spine jacket that holds the albums as well as a bonus 12” featuring demos/outtakes that have never been on vinyl before. Innocents has never been available as a stand-alone vinyl release until this edition with its reimagined design and layout being true to vocalist Jonah Jenkins’ original monochromatic vision for the packaging. Further, the original demo of “Deed’s Pride,” which previously only appeared on the 1995 Century Media 'Identity' sampler, makes its first appearance on any OLW release."

With each album limited to 750 copies each, the reissues feature an 8-page booklet packed with rare photos, flyers, original art, posters, lyric sheets, and more from Jonah’s personal archives.

Fellow Only Living Witness geeks including Aaron Dalbec (Bane, Be Well), Jesse Leach & Mike D. (Killswitch Engage), and Chris Gonzalez (End It) wax poetic about the band in the reissue booklets, and both albums were mastered for vinyl by Jeff Lipton.

Head over to Man Alive Records to pre-order the Prone Mortal Form and Innocents reissues.
