In a time of every band having social media, it’s hard to truly capture the “old school” vibe your uncle who saw the Misfits play in an Akron, Ohio Chinese restaurant basement in 1982 never shuts the fuck up about (last I checked, this place got leveled and is a Valvoline these days).
Having nothing more than a very simple website and dropping an 8-track debut on Soundcloud called Cassette 1, new band N.O. actually does do something to that effect.
Clocking in at less than 12 minutes, this debut feels like old-school hardcore in all the best ways. Drums louder than the rest of the band, everything blown out in a way that sounds unintentional instead of a plugin, and reverb clipping the vocals:
