Today marks the release of Where Did We Go Wrong?, the sophomore album from Los Angeles straight edge hardcore unit, Berthold City.
The band consists of vocalist Andrew Kline (Strife, World Be Free), guitarist Dennis McDonald (Internal Affairs), bassist John "Eightclip" Jenkins (Allegiance), and new drummer, Todd Hennig (Death By Stereo). Produced by Nick Jett (Terror, Piece By Piece), the 12-song affair is topped to the gills with anthemic choruses, stomping mosh sections, and gritty yet clear vocal lines that somehow feels classic and fresh all at the same time.
To celebrate the release of Where Did We Go Wrong?, Berthold City have just dropped a music video for its title track. Directed by the band's very own John Jenkins, the clip incorporates visual elements from the album's cover art, which was done by Jeremy Dean, a veteran graphic designer previously spotlighted on No Echo.
"I completely trust Jeremy as a designer, and give him free rein to come up with the album art, and then we collaborate on the final details," Andrew from Berthold City told me about their working relationship. "I love that the artwork for the band has stayed cohesive with every release but has also evolved with the music."
Stay tuned to Berthold City's social media pages as the band will be playing shows both local and abroad in the coming months, including another European run in the spring of 2025.
If you're in Southern California, the group have lined up a string of shows in October to commemorate the Where Did We Go Wrong? release:
Where Did We Go Wrong? is available now across all music streaming outlets, and the vinyl and CD versions are up for pre-order via WAR Records.
