Band: Zion's Blood
From: West Haven, Connecticut
Their formation story:
"We all met at school at the beginning of 2020 while the world was falling apart around us. Coming from all different states along the Northeast, all four of us shared a passion for hardcore/alternative music. Forming a band and playing shows just seemed like a natural next step, which has brought us to where we are today."
Their sound in their own words:
"Above all else, the music we create is a big mix of all the different stuff that we listen to. Our aggression comes from bands like Leeway, Mindforce, and Negative Approach, but we also really value the rhythmic emphasis of groups such as Fugazi and A Tribe Called Quest.
"Playing aggressively is great, but we try our best to make sure there’s a quality song at the center of everything."
Latest release info:
"Our self-titled, debut EP consists of the first three songs that we wrote together ('Truth to Power,' 'Charge the Fool,' 'Cut the Middle'). We also put our own spin on The Smiths’ classic single, 'Ask.' When we were recording it, our main goal was to keep it feeling as lively as possible.
"We didn’t want a big, dolled-up, overwrought record. We wanted to put something out that says, 'Here’s our band, here’s our music, this is how we play.' Listening back to it, we’re very satisfied with the results."
Future plans:
"Above all else, we really are itching to play to as many people as we can. We’re really proud of all that we’ve gotten together so far and we want to share what we’re doing! We’re currently writing for what should become our debut album, so keep on the lookout for that too!"
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Wreckage, ILL COMM, The Distance, Montclair, The Problem With Kids Today, QWEEN KONG"
