Band: Vile Mind
From: Huntington, West Virginia
Their formation story:
(Nate Holley, vocals): "We’ve been a band for about six months now, but we’ve all been friends and have played hardcore together in various formations over the last 20 years. Over the last several years none of us were doing much in the way of playing hardcore, we had all kind of split off in life. Then, I think it built up inside of us until we couldn’t take it anymore.
"It seemed like all at once, over night, we all just picked right back up where we left off. As soon as we formalized the lineup and got to work , it all just clicked. We all have the same desire to be heard and to be a voice for our people here in Appalachia. We all NEED to play hardcore, it’s in our blood."
Their sound in their own words:
"Appalachian Hardcore. Real hardcore born from real experience.
"We are highly influenced by the grit and groove of the '80s/'90s NYHC. Bands like Madball, Merauder, Cro-Mags, and Agnostic Front. Other huge influences include: Hatebreed, Slapshot, Blood for Blood, and Biohazard."
Latest release info:
"Endless Suffering, our debut EP, was realized May 23rd 2025 and we couldn’t be more proud of it. It was our goal to come together as a cohesive group and make songs we all loved. We wanted to make hardcore that really meant something to us, and we feel like we accomplished just that.
"Playing hardcore is all we’ve ever done. It’s all we have to give to the world and we are just super stoked to be giving back to hardcore with our music and message."
Future plans:
"So we are definitely trying to keep up the momentum we’ve gained since the Endless Suffering release. We’ve almost got enough music to record another EP, so while we work on that we will be trying to get out of town and play! We’ve been given the opportunity to play in a lot of really sick places and we plan on cooking while the iron is hot!"
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Definitely check out Bad Terms, XAgainst AllX, Nearly Mine, Concussed on Concrete, Dragged, Ghost Home, Rockwells Ghost, Agency, Don’t Look Back, and Violent Convictions. And I’m sure there are tons more I can’t think of off the top of my head."
