Band: T.F.R.
From: Manchester, New Hampshire
Their formation story:
(T.J., vocals): "Bruce (guitar), Brian (drums) and I met when we were teenagers and have always shared a love of music but never got around to starting a band together. We met Mason (bass) in our early 20's and we became quick friends and have been like family since.
"We started T.F.R. in the spring of 2020 as a way to cope with the loss of one of our best friends but shortly after writing our first song quarantine started. A few months later we were able to get back to practice and within a couple of weeks we wrote and recorded our first demo EP, This Isn't Justice, and started playing as many shows as we could.
"About a year later we self recorded and released our first proper EP, Know Your Worth. Since then we have been playing shows steadily around the New England area, opening for bands such as the Cro-Mags and Colin of Arabia."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our style has been described as classic '80s style hardcore punk with '90s/early '00s style breakdowns. Our main influences are Blood For Blood, Terror, Death Before Dishonor, Have Heart, Shark Attack, and Cops & Robbers, as well as newer acts like End It and Restraining Order.
"For fans of Mindforce, Death Before Dishonor, Colin of Arabia, thrashy riffs, meaty breakdowns, and hating the rich."
Latest release info:
"Our newest release is a 4-track EP titled Born Mad. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Eduardo Casella at Marrow Deep Productions. These are our hardest hitting songs to date with subject matter ranging from throwing your life away in the workplace to confronting sexual predators, and more.
"The whole EP clocks in at just over 8 minutes long. We are self-released Born Mad onto all major streaming services as well as having physical copies available at shows."
Future plans:
"Our plans for the immediate future include branching out of the New England area to play more shows for more people. We also intend to release Born Mad as a limited run 7-inch in the near future."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"There is a huge number of great bands coming up in our area at the moment but some notable bands right now are our homies in Spit, Hard Target, Choke Out, Sophisticated Adult, Clock Out, Shortest Life, Street Power, and our friends in The Graniteers."
