Band: PowerPlay
From: Miami, Florida
Their formation story:
(Adam Hussler, vocals): "Like many newer bands, we were born out of the pandemic. We had all been writing and playing music with various other projects for many years. PowerPlay was actually never supposed to be a touring entity or anything it has become, but just a musical outlet. Like all things, it evolved, and we just rode the wave, so to speak."
Their sound in their own words:
"We are just straight ahead hardcore. We all come from different musical influences and backgrounds, so sometimes you'll get a punkier sound, sometimes a thrashier one, sometimes a more metallic one. We look at it with the same attitude that bands like Refused did on The Shape of Punk to Come. Just enjoying what we are writing and finding a way to flow the songs into each other."
Latest release info:
"'Liberosis' is the first release on our upcoming album, The Complexity of Being Alive. A lot of the subject matters are focused on that exact subject, the complexity of living every day.
"'Liberosis' is a song about mental health and the pandemic that has been in the world for decades. It is meant to be anthemic, and a rally cry that screams I realize I am a human being, and I can only control certain aspects of my life, but my friends are here for me, my family is here for me, and I can only control what I can."
Future plans:
"We plan to drop the album in Spring 2026 and have two tours planned. We will be out with Rust, Chained, and GasFL on select dates from April 18 through May 9th in the Eastern US. Summer will be spent on an almost full US tour with Yosemite in Black, June 4th through June 28th, handled by Get In The Van Booking."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Other bands from Florida to check out: GasFL, Fortitude, Fallen God, No Truth, Gauge, Tooth, REAL, Near Death, Scorched Remains, and Convicted to Die (trust us, there's a ton more we can recommend)."
