New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Opposition

Band: Opposition
From: Boston, Massachusetts

Their formation story:
(Ethan, vocals): "Me, Chris, and Cyrus were all in a band before called Born From Demise. As that band progressed, we just felt like it wasn’t right anymore, it didn’t feel like us, I didn’t feel connected to the project anymore, and it just wasn’t working.

"So we decided to start from scratch. Took the two songs we had written for BFD and reworked them. I rewrote the lyrics and we put that out as the opposition demo."

Their sound in their own words:
"We definitely have a very metallic sound first and foremost. It's coming hugely from Slayer and black metal which is what Chris listens to a lot of. It’s a blend of that old-school metallic sound and hard-hitting parts influenced by 100 Demons and Merauder.

"For me personally, I pull huge amounts of influence from bands like 100 Demons, Kickback, Neglect, Sentence, and Dyingrace."

Latest release info:
"I truly think A Legacy of Tragedy is the best material we have written. It really brings in what I love the most about hardcore and metalcore. Huge dance floor parts, fucked up lyrics, and straight up evil sounding riffs.

"I had Adrian from Twist of Cain and No Way Out do the artwork for it and he killed it and got the exact vibe we were going for. Massive shout out to him and his bands, No Way Out is killing it right now. We also got our friend Brad from Hard Cash and Instigate to hop on the title track and it really brings the entire song together perfectly."

Future plans:
"We will just be playing a lot over the next few months in New England and hoping to get on the road for a few days later in the year."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"I need to show love to Risk BHC, Street Power, Haywire, Hate Still Burns, Burning Lord, The Next Level (you’ll know about this soon), Jackal, C4, Mourned, Exhibit, Hard Cash, Instigate, and Ultimatum."
