Band: HuntDown
From: Paris, France
Their formation story:
(Philippe, vocals): "I have known [guitarist] David for almost three decades now. We've played in a few bands together in tha last 20 years: HardxTimes, Angry Vets, and The Reason Why.
"[Guitarist] Pec (ex-Wendy's Surrender) and David started a new project two years ago. They brought in Nico (bass) and Cam (drums), so they had four great musicians with no singer. I passed by one of their practices to say hello and I ended up joining the gang for more adventures. We've been together for a year now."
Their sound in their own words:
"We play hardcore, plain and simple. We don't want to reach any other label. Especially no subgenre. We don't try to sound like anything in particular. We want to share energy and make people feel like they want to crowdkill anyone anywhere.
"David and I come from the '80s hardcore and skinhead scene.Pec, Cam, and Nico have been into hardcore and metal for more than 20 years now. We share the love of hardcore on differents levels. It's impossible to do a top hardcore influences, but we could individually say Morning Again (Pec), Excessive Force (David), Ringworm (Cam), All Out War (Nico), and Disciplinary Action (myself)."
Latest release info:
"We've got around 12 songs now. For the demo we chose seven and recorded them live, no tricks and weird shit. We played each song one or two times and recorded the second or the third take, max. My vocals were all recorded on one take, no cutting or adding bullshit."
Future plans:
"We're gonna get back to live record four or five songs before summer. We're looking for shows and a record label."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Theunderground scene is alive and kicking in Paris so definitely one of the newbies on the Paris on Oi! compilation that came out a few months ago.
"On the hardcore side, you've got fewer good bands still around. Let's say old friends from Hangman's Chair and Forest in Blood. And for the new blood, Sorcerer and Take it in Blood because they're stand up, solid dudes."
