Band: Fatal Slip

Their formation story:
(Dan, vocals): "We formed around July last year when I asked around for people to start just a capital-H hardcore band in Urbana. Our drummer, Dylan McCall, was (re-)introduced to me by a friend. Our bassist Declan O’Connor simply replied to my post, and he was in. After a while, we made a guitar change, and now Cam Harpst is in our outfit as well!"
Their sound in their own words:
"In our most recent release, we have hints of metallic hardcore and beatdown in our sound, but everyone, including us, seems to like the two-steppy shout-along stuff we do. So once we put our sound together more, it will likely be based around the latter.
"Heading into this project, we’ve mostly been inspired by Terror, Backtrack, Hold My Own, and Death Threat."
Latest release info:
"It’s a nice little mixture of songs written for previous projects and ones we hashed out relatively recently. We try to preach through our lyrics the importance of community, being yourself, and figuring things out in person rather than putting someone on blast on the internet when you have a problem."
Future plans:
"We’re hoping to write a little more, play a couple of new cities, and let people know that there’s more to Urbana than just Midwest Emo and academia."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"For people who like the old school, fast stuff? We got a lot of that in Champaign-Urbana, like J.U.G., Unseen Forces, Macroplastics, and Power of Dusk. We got some youngins learning the ropes too, like Snot Pocket, Granny Square, and Tapeworm. And of course, for the heavy stuff, Javelin, Loot, and Keep (IL) could use a little love."
