Band: Dumbo
From: Manchester, UK
Their formation story:
"We found each other through the all-seeing eye of the internet. I’d recently moved back to the UK from a few years in Germany, and Josh had recently moved up to Manchester from London. Tim had recently left another project and wanted to drum in something heavier. The first few practices were just as a three-piece, then we recruited George as a second guitarist, and conveniently, AJ’s slam project imploded, so we gained a bassist."
Their sound in their own words:
"We all have wildly different influences, from stompy OG punk shit to black metal and everything in between. Our shit sounds pretty eclectic, but we’re just making stuff we think is cool, so whatever. FFO: Bulldoze, Neglect, Biohazard, putting bricks through cop car windscreens."
Latest release info:
"It’s a 6-track EP called Gunga Rao which is the name of an old execution method that involved you getting your shit rocked by an elephant. Three tracks are better versions of things on our demo from 2025 and then three tracks are new.
"We worked with Jake Gore from Cannonball (and shit loads of other projects) and we’re so stoked on the end product. Hit this man up expeditiously if you want to sound gnarly."
Future plans:
"We’ve got a few local shows lined up, and we’ve got plans for an EP release show in the pipeline. We’re putting out a split with our friends in Guess Again later in the spring. Check them out, they rule. World tour is the obvious next step."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Lure In are a criminally slept on and really boundary-pushing band from Manchester. Check out Burnt Body, Repel, Deathbloom, Feign and Witherhorde, all from Manchester or nearby. Telltale put out a very cool demo last year—go spin that shit too."
