Band: Broken Focus

Their formation story:
(Izzacck Galveston, bass): "This band was started by me about a year and a half ago when my old band, The Runts, ended in February 2024. The Runts at that time of my life was a big part of who I was and my identity. Feeling like I needed to build something for myself, I decided to start a hardcore band.
"In the early days, I wrote all of the riffs and worked them out with my drummer, Alejandro Arango. I had to teach/show him hardcore as he never listened to the music prior to this band. Working with him day after day curating the drum fills how I heard them in my head. We wrote all of the lyrics together in my apartment and finally had all of the music put together. We then did a rough recording of all the tracks at a friend's studio (Bird Cage Studios) to have something real to show people we wanted to try out.
"We later decided to ask a younger friend of ours to play guitar, Moises Crespo. He quickly learned all the songs while adding his own style to all the songs. Finding a singer was a long process and was very stressful. I had no friends interested in playing music in a hardcore band and taking the band seriously. I scoured all of the internet for a singer via Vampr, Craigslist, Facebook, BandMix, etc. We had tried out a few different singers but nothing seemed to fit the band's sound, until I found Wren Rose through BandMix. I was blown away by how powerful she sounded and immediately contacted her to try out. I asked her to learn two songs, a week passed and it was time to see If it was a right fit.
"After that night, I knew we had someone finally who fits with our sound. We decided to re-record one of our songs ('Break Me Down') with Wren to make sure it was the right sound over a recorded track. After recording that night I knew we found our singer.
"Now that we had all the members confirmed we went to work tightening up our set together, filming our music video, recording our official demo with Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio, making merch, designing our webstore, and preparing all our content to be released. Now here we are ready to play our hearts out everywhere we possibly can."
Their sound in their own words:
"I best describe our sound as hardcore with a lot of punk influence. Some of my big influences on me and inspiration I drew while writing this demo include: Turnstile, Trapped Under Ice, Backtrack, Big Boy, Gulch, Guns Up!, Exit Order, and Spy."

"The Broken Focus demo is something I'm proud of the first time I've ever written all the music and put it out this way."
Future plans:
"Our plans for upcoming months is to tour as much as we can and focus on writing new music to release a EP next year in 2026."
