Band: Boltgun
From: Saxony-Anhalt/Thuringia, Germany
Their formation story:
(Flo, vocals)" "At the end of 2024, I asked Carlo, the drummer of Gone Society, if he wanted to start a new project with me. I was and still am the singer of a band called Extinct. So he was interested, and our friend Tim also showed me his slam project around that time. So I asked him if he wanted to practice with us.
“In October 2024, we met for the first time, and what should I say, it was a bit like love at first sight. On that day, we wrote the first song, 'War on War.' Lucas, our bass player, is another friend of ours and one of the Gone Society singers. He attended every rehearsal as a visitor, so we asked him if he would be interested in playing bass for us, and he was. He started from zero, but he is talented!”
Their sound in their own words:
(Tim, guitar): “We all shared the same goal just to do hardcore that makes you wanna mosh and bang your head hard. Although we all come from a hardcore background, we still wanted to add elements from other extreme genres. Furthermore, we wanted the songs to be groovy and maybe even catchy too.”
Latest release info:
(Flo): “It is our first release. It is called Mod. 5.012. This is the model number of a bolt gun from the German Democratic Republic, the former state of the region, where we all live. The lyrics are thematically different in every song.
“So the intro starts with a reference to a bolt gun. 'Plastic Idols' is against the profit-oriented music industry and bands who are jumping on every trend. “Licking Their Boots” is against class-traitors, I think everyone can hear this easily [laughs]. 'No Second Breath' is a song about revenge. In 'Paradise,' I wanted to draw a picture of the way to a free society and 'War on War' is against military buildup and imperialistic wars.”
Future plans:
(Flo): “Probably our plans are the same like the plans of most other bands. We want to play shows, have a good time together and bring hard music to people who like to mosh. I hope we can record another EP in fall this year.”
What other bands from their region should we check out?
“From our region: Chaver, Pure Devotion, Peace of Mind, Gone Society, Dethroned, Breathing, Blossom Decay, Extinct.
“From Germany: Moral Fever, Haywire, No Escape,Depopulation, Skullhammer, Birth Struggle Death, Harlekin.”
