Band: Battle Codes

Their formation story:
(Dylan Hall, vocals): "Battle Codes started as a side project by my Plagues bandmates Sean Haidul and Scott Smith. They began writing and recording songs for a hardcore project, tracking drums at Mystic Valley Studio in Medford and guitars at Marcel's Shred Shed in Worcester. Once the instrumentals were taking shape, they asked me to write lyrics and record vocals. By late June, we had nine songs finished."
Their sound in their own words:
"I see Battle Codes as an expressive response to the current situation. The lyrics deal with resistance, anti-authority, and mental health struggles. Sometimes the message is direct, while other times we hope listeners find their own meaning in it. At the end of the day, we just love making aggressive music. We wanted to write hardcore that's relevant to the times we're living in while still being a good time for hardcore punks.
"We're influenced by bands like Discharge, Black Flag, Disfear, and All Out War, and we hope fans of those bands connect with what we're doing."
Latest release info:
"Our debut single, 'Deadbeat,' is about ignorance and the weaponization of the media. We chose it as the first song to introduce Battle Codes because it stands apart stylistically from the rest of the record while still capturing the band's overall identity. It hints at the range of the remaining songs and felt like the perfect introduction."
Future plans:
"We'll be releasing the remaining eight songs as a full-length in the near future. After that, the goal is to get the record in front of as many people as possible and start playing shows in support of it."
