Song of the Day

Revenge Season, “Malfeasance,” from Eternal Despair (Safe Inside Records, 2018)

Revenge Season's music recently landed in my inbox courtesy of Burt Jenkins of Safe Inside Records, and I'm glad it did. The Atlanta band specialize in a style of metallic hardcore that lays out one caveman guitar riff after the other. This isn't subtle stuff, my friends. If you're into Hatebreed-like hardcore, Revenge Season will satisfy.

I chose the track "Malfeasance" from the group's Eternal Despair EP to showcase them here since it gives you all of the sonic ingredients Revenge Season like to work into their material. As you'll hear, the quintet love throwing down groove parts where they make the most impact. I've said this before, but this kind of hardcore isn't reinventing the wheel, but when it's done this well, I'm always down for it.

Safe Inside Records will be issuing Eternal Despair on 7" in late May, and you can stream the EP now via Revenge Season's Bandcamp page.
