The Hope Conspiracy Unleashes a Shot of Ripping Political Hardcore via “Live in Fear”

The Hope Conspiracy just dropped the third teaser track from their long-awaited fourth album, Tools of Oppression / Rule by Deception.

"Live in Fear" wastes no time getting to the action, erupting into a fast hardcore whipping with lyrics that mirror the ominous political tone of their album's title. "Americans are the most propagandized population on the planet and have no idea that they are," says vocalist Kevin Baker.

"The latest horrors are broadcast between commercials for pharmaceuticals and fast food. The issues that divide us get amplified through the media to keep us all on edge and loathing one another while the corporate masters literally strip mine the middle class for all its worth. Non objective voices push just the right buttons on both sides to distract and keep our eyes off of what's really going on.

"The last thing the establishment would want is a well-educated and united population holding them accountable for their war crimes and genocides. We are told what to think. We are told what to say and we are told what to do. Stay in line and live in fear."

Produced by Jake Mulhern (Mothpowder Light Show), The Hope Conspiracy have also released an accompanying music video for the new track:

For the Tools of Oppression / Rule by Deception recording sessions, The Hope Conspiracy collaborated with engineers Kurt Ballou and Zach Weeks at God City Studios.

The Hope Conspiracy was formed in 1999 out of the Boston hardcore scene. Their most recent album was 2006's Death Knows Your Name. Last year, the group released the Confusion/Chaos/Misery EP.

Tools of Oppression / Rule by Deception will be out on May 31st via Deathwish Inc. (pre-order).
