The seeds of Bakersfield, California band In Balance can be traced back to some demos guitarist Chris tracked during the pandemic lockdowns. Marcel’s arrival as vocalist and primary songwriter brought new energy, and the band officially formed in 2023 with lead guitarist Zeke, drummer Anthony, and bassist Mikey completing the lineup. Together they released their debut EP, Elements, later that same year.
In Balance's driving pop-punk approach makes sense when you find out their members' influences. Chris draws from Strung Out, No Use for a Name, and 2010s pop-punk; Marcel cites The Story So Far, Citizen, and even grunge icons like Layne Staley and Chris Cornell; Zeke leans metal; Anthony from Korn, Slipknot, Meshuggah"
Today, In Balance released "Forget Me," a track from their forthcoming Unforgivable 7". The EP will also feature one other song that will be on their debut album, which is still be worked on:
The EP will be getting limited edition vinyl treatment from Transcendental Revolution, a label based out of Kentucky. "We played a show with this really good band from Kentucky called Small Steps," In Balance guitarist Chris tells No Echo.
"I struck up a conversation with their singer, Jeremiah, outside between bands. He mentioned he ran this label so when we finished these songs I hit him up wondering if he would consider doing a 7 inch. He was down and we couldn’t be more stoked to release it with them.:
As far as other bands from their region In Balance think we should all pay attention to, they blessed us with this list: "Blend 27, Disgorged Carnage, Parasite Caste, Gold, BDR, Epilepsy, SakTap, Earth Expired, Dragged Down, Step By Step, Ill Communication, No Strings Attached, Trav Moox.
"Bands from close by: Berthold City, Stalemate, Tarnish, Two Story House, Blazed."
