Congrats going out to Dead Heat on starting the next chapter of their career.
The Oxnard, California crossover hardcore unit just announced that they've inked a deal with Metal Blade Records. I've been covering the band from their demo days, and I included them on my annual 12 Newer Hardcore Bands to Check Out list in 2017.
Clearly, I wasn't alone in my assessment of the group. "Dead Heat fucking slays; it’s an honor to welcome them to the Metal Blade family," says Ryan Williams, the A&R agent who signed them to the legendary label.
“To be part of a label that has put out some of our favorite records and has had some of our favorite artists is without words an absolute honor," Dead Heat vocalist Chris Ramos commented about the new union.
To date, Dead Heat have released a split with Mindforce, two full-length LPs, and several EPs including Endless Torment last year:
The last time I Dead Heat live was earlier this year on the Tankcrimes Brainsqueeze Tour alongside Municipal Waste, Ghoul, and Necrot. It looks like they'll be road dogs for the rest of 2024. The band will play a one-off show supporting Bodycount later this month before joining DRAIN, Terror, Angel Du$t, and End It for a short run of shows in June. After that, they'll head to Europe in July.
No word yet on when we can expect the first release through the new Dead Heat/Metal Blade partnership, but with the weight of the label's distribution and marketing arms behind them, the Cali outfit should be in great shape.
