Band: World Champion
From: Montreal, Québec
Their formation story:
(Josh, guitar): "After my last few bands had finished, I was looking to start something new where I would be playing guitar (as I'm usually on drums). Many of us are from the east coast of Canada and have known each other, played in bands together, or played shows together over the last decade."
Their sound in their own words:
"My whole idea initially was to start a band in the vein of late 2000s Bridge Nine Records (Have Heart, Verse) meets the Shelter or Better Than a Thousand. Jordan and I used to play in a Lifetime-worship band called Instep so there's some elements of that in there too."
Latest release info:
"We recorded the demo with our friend Lukas Glickman at Studio Verville here in Montreal, QC. One of the best parts of that weekend was going to Jack Astor's after finishing tracking. The recording was then mixed and mastered by Micah Brown. Micah had recorded and mixed virtually everything for my previous band, Gazm, so it was great to work with him again."
Future plans:
"We're playing with Wretched Rite and Terminator in Montreal in early December and then going to start working on the next set of songs through the winter."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"All corners of the Montreal hardcore scene have been absolutely killing it over the last few years but one of my favourites has been Will to Speak. Shoutout to Pluto's Kiss (from Toronto/Detroit) as well."
