Band: Trench

Their formation story:
(Otis, bass): "Amir and I have been jamming together since high school, and when I got to college, I met Gary, and we all started a hardcore band called Suffer as One. We were a three-piece for a while, with Gary handling vocals and drums. We eventually decided that was unsustainable, as we wanted to play faster and focus on a more power-violence-influenced style, so we added Alex as a vocalist. When Alex joined, and we changed styles, we decided to start fresh under the name Trench. I was watching 1917 when I thought, 'Hey, Trench is kind of a cool name, and we just went with it. My homie Wes did a sick logo, which helped finalize the name decision."
Their sound in their own words:
"I would describe our style as power violence for moshers. We love playing fast and crazy, but we also love having really aggressive, slow mosh parts. I love powerviolence and grind, but also love throwing spinkicks, and really just wanted to write stuff that appealed to me. I'd say our biggest influences are Weekend Nachos, Sex Prisoner, Guilt Dispenser, and Scalp, but we draw from many bands across different genres, such as Shattered Realm and Noothgrush. I'd say the band we probably emulate most is Sex Prisoner, though."
Latest release info:
"So we just put out our demo; it came out in early February. The demo is pretty short, with power-violence-esque songs and one longer, doom-y song. My favorite song on the demo is 'Materialized,' which captures our sound in one track. We have a feature from my friend Dani of Magnificent, Guilt Dispenser, and countless other power violence bands on track 5, titled 'Face the Mirror.' The slowest song on the demo is called 'Agony'; our engineer, Alejandro Sisro, really helped us push our sound on that one, and I'm stoked on how it came out.
Future plans:
"Our main goal is to just play Socal a ton right now, and we are planning a couple weekend runs with some friends over the coming months. We're writing for an LP, which is our next goal, and we have a couple of new tracks we have been playing at live shows. We might do a fall or summer 2 song promo, but we may just end up saving tracks for an LP."

"California power violence and hardcore is on fire right now. A couple of our favorites are Magnificent, Plagas, Homegrown, Execute, Malform, Guilt Dispenser, Scalp, Sangre (RIP), Madrugado, Blood Stained Concrete, and Contract Killer."
