New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Path of Destruction

Band: Path of Destruction
From: Birmingham, Alabama

Their formation story:
(Rivers, vocals): "I’ve been friends with the three original members (Gavin, Cole, and Luke) for years just from school and mutual friends. I had written a few songs and we had been jamming for around a year or so. We finally decided to focus on writing some music and playing some shows. We’ve recently added our homie Adrian as second guitar. We met him going to shows in Birmingham."

Their sound in their own words:
"For this record, I was inspired by mid-late '90s metallic hardcore, and the New Age Records sound. We were inspired specifically by Strain, One King Down, Spawn, and Trial, but we also took some influences from some South Florida stuff like early Poison the Well, Strongarm, and Culture."

Latest release info:
"We’ve been working on these songs for our new record for about a year now and just got around to recording them. We had been talking to both Josh from Armageddon and our homie Donnie from Stronger Than Pride for a few months and decide to make the tape a split release. We love what both of these guys are doing for the southeast so it was a no-brainer."

Future Plans:
"After Edge Fest and Furnace Fest, we don’t have any serious plans due to jobs and school, but we will definitely be playing a few random show around the southeast and maybe an extended weekend before the year is up. We will hopefully have some new music not too far into the future as well."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Some bands from Alabama that you should check out are, Cold Hard Steel, Forced Neglect, Ladder to God, Double Tap, Life’s Plan, Twisted Luck, Life Goes On, Commodity, Bareknuckle, All In, and Bootprint.

"Some other bands to check out from the Southeast are Lethal Method, On My Life, Wasted Life, Shogun and Statement of Pride."

Broken Beyond Belief is available on cassette via Stronger Than Pride.
