Band: Mindhold
From: Nottingham, UK
Their formation story:
(Jay, vocals): "So Mindhold was originally formed by me and Matt (guitar) back in 2023. We soon asked Tom (drums) to join us and then we went through a bit of a line-up change a couple of times with bass and rhythm until we finally settled with Kezzy and Kyle.
“Most of us met through going to gigs in Nottingham apart from Keza, Tom and Kyle who have known each other since school/college. We released our first single early 2024 and didn’t start gigging till the end of that year.”
Their sound in their own words:
“We’d say we're a hardcore band with a massive influence from death metal, so basically hardcore death metal! We take big influence from American death metal (like Final Resting Place, Corpse Pile, etc.) then mix in elements of UK hardcore (Splitknuckle, Life of One etc.). We are still shaping our sound but on the right path.”
Latest release info:
“So Matt originally came up with the name of the EP [Bearing the Weight of Sin and Judgement] and its origins come from researching the crucifixion/Bible passages. Each song includes different topics… 'Bearing the Weight of Sin and Judgement' is mainly about suffering with mental health and living in a world that’s messed up; 'Misery Lock' is basically a metaphor for a coffin and is a suicide note; and 'Blood Debt' is about the genocide and tragedy that is happening in Palestine and Ukraine.”
Future plans:
“Mainly to continue writing, play as many shows as possible and go outta the country, mainly EU and hopefully US. We’re already in talks of a new EP as well as a couple of singles too!”
What other bands from their region should we check out?
“I'd personally say Torn Apart, Emancipation, Divine Hatred, Ego, Crowquill, Nelson St, Built Upon Hatred, Break Them, Despondent, and plenty more I could shout out!”
