New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Fade

Band: Fade
From: New Jersey

Their formation story:
(Marco, bass): "I was going through a bunch of little song projects I had on my computer and I came across a few that I had written while with our very good friend who had just passed that Novembe. I knew they weren’t hits or anything, but I remember having fun writing them with Joey sitting behind dancing and playing air guitar. That’s when I remembered that Swetal (guitar) had music out under this project called xswetalx and I immediately DM'ed him on Instagram telling him to text me.

"Once he reached out I pitched him the idea of maybe doing vocals on some of the songs I had, once I saw his texts were green I knew I needed an email cause the files would take forever to send over text. Maybe a day later, Wayne (vocals) reached out and pitched me on the idea of getting together with friends and putting all those emotions and feelings we all had over the loss of Joey, and make some jams together. Everything else really just fell into place after that, the chemistry in the room when we started writing together was special and felt right."

Their sound in their own words:
(Eric, drums): "So we all agreed we wanted it to be aggressive and fast hardcore but the amount of times we wanted a specific sound or style it changed because of how broad our spectrum of music is collectively. So we kinda just go with whatever sounds good to us."

(Swetal, guitar:) "I feel like we are FFO early 2000s hardcore which is something I thoroughly enjoy like Dead to Fall, Kids like Us, Shipwreck A.D., and Have Heart."

Latest release info:
(Dean, guitar): "Our newest release, Drowned In Doubt, is the demo re-recorded with 2 additional songs. It was all recorded mixed and mastered by our good friend Tito Valentin at Pariah Studios in New Jersey. Some minor changes to the voicemail clips of our friend Joey Black throughout the EP. Along with Brad from Roseblood doing a feature on the title track, and Straight Edge Sean from Manik on the new song, 'Echo Chamber.'"

Future plans:
(Wayne, vocals): "We’re playing in Lakewood, New Jersey on Oct 24th with End It, Hold My Own, Clique, Cosmic Joke, and Nailed Shut. It's super exciting for us to be able to play such a cool show. Thanks to Greg and Dylan from Takedown Records.

"Due to all of us working completely different schedules/ having kids we don’t really book our shows too far out. And just continuing to write songs when we get the chance and hopefully put out a full length record sometime next year.

"The way we all work together and separate is awesome. Randomly I’ll get a text from Marco or Dean and it’s just like 3/4 separate files for different songs and it’s just like “okay write words and then we’ll all finish this together” so that really expedites the whole process. Plus, we’re impatient."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Bands from our region to check out are Manik, BodyLock, Negative Force,Heavy Hand, XL Bully, Suicide Eyes, and Opposition."
