Their formation story:
(Kahal, guitar): "It’s a bit of a long story but I’ll cut to the chase. We formed in September last year after our drummer Terry and my old band broke up. We knew our bassist Kieran from shows in Leeds. He messaged Terry about wanting to start a metalcore band and Terry called me that same day to ask me to play guitar and I said yes.
"We then asked our friend Liam from a Sheffield band called Divine Hatred if he wanted to do vocals and he said yes, and that was that really."
Their sound in their own words:
"We’re mostly inspired by, I guess, late '90s/early '00s Boston metalcore bands like Converge and On Broken Wings, and later bands like Vein.fm.
"We also have a healthy amount of screamo and mathcore influence like Jeromes Dream and early Daughters. Mostly, we just like to blend the super chaotic metalcore/mathcore style with an emotional flair. I think we noticed there wasn’t too many bands right now going for that sound, so we had a feeling it might be something people were wanting to hear also."
Latest release info:
"Our EP came together rather quickly, I wrote most of the songs in my bedroom with Logic Pro using programmed drums and amp sims. Terry wrote a lot of drum parts for ‘Ecorche’ of which he also came up with the song title. I wrote ‘Crowquill’ first and then ‘The Family Faucet’ basically one after another.
"We were originally going to leave it there, but I wrote ‘One Night, Not Enough Time’ in an evening when I figured it’d be cool to end the EP with a short emoviolence inspired song that ends with a calm guitar lullaby at the end to contrast the onslaught that comes before it.
"Liam recorded his vocals in his car, they came out great because it was basically a makeshift sound booth. We recorded the drums at Millwright Studios in Leeds with Adam Rogers who is an insane sound engineer who’s worked on the Killing Me Softly record, and does live sound for Static Dress and Loathe.
"I mixed and mastered the EP and then we sent it to The Coming Strife, who have given this release a platform to do a lot better than any of us thought it would do. Very grateful for everyone who helped us along the way."
Future plans:
"Our plans for the future aren’t certain yet, but new stuff is being wrote and I think we’re gonna aim to put out a short LP of some kind next. We love Leeds but we’d love to branch out of the city and show our faces around more and/or do a run around the country with another band."
