Band: Chain Pulling Man
From: Providence, Rhode Island
Their formation story:
(Zach Ganshirt): "Kam (guitar), Justin (guitar), and I have a mutual friend who connected us. It initially started as talk about playing music. Kam had several songs written and when I first heard them I was blown away. Right up my alley of the type of stuff I wanted to play. We secured Nick as our drummer through Justin. The two of them were in a band called Cavalier together.
"The four of us jammed for a while and when it came time to find a bassist I put a quick word out on instagram. Cliff hit me up immediately saying he was interested. The two of us were in a band called Lesotho for years and I knew he'd be a great fit to sum up the sound."
Their sound in their own words:
"The 5 of us all come from different parts of the hardcore/metal sound. Nick and Justin offer a more traditional approach taking influence from alt.rock and straight-to-the-point hardcore. Kam throws in an '80s-'90s death metal sound laced with power violence and skramz. Cliff's background is in post and sludge metal, so he brought in this totally new spin to the band that meshes so well.
"As far as vocals go, my style is more in-line with '90s melodic death metal, with a hint of black metal and every genre already listed. Anything dark, heavy, melodic, fast, and chaotic we collectively take influence from, whether that be from music or any other form of art. We also love Dua Lipa."
Latest release info:
"Our newest release is a two-song demo, recorded DIY. We wanted a short release that would represent our band’s style and let the listener know what we are offering. 'White Moose' is a song that gets straight to the point and is in your face, while 'It Wants Blood' has more build and is more almost groove oriented. We thought these songs were perfect for a short release to showcase our spectrum of sound."
Future plans:
"We have a few shows planned in the coming months, and are eager to get these songs in front of people. In addition to those shows, we plan to release another handful of songs that will continue where we left off on the demo."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Some bands from our region to check out are Shapethrower, Edict, BILLY, Solanin, Burn Channel, Dream Fatigue, Lesotho."
