Their formation story:
(Eddie, guitars/vocals): "Zach (drums) and I were introduced through a mutual friend. The first time we met with our instruments, we really hit it off musically and wrote parts for what would become three songs. For a few weeks, every time we jammed, we would come out with something new.

"I pushed for us to stay a two-piece, knowing that adding a third member might slow down our momentum. We would demo songs as we went, and they really served as a proof of concept for what we could push our sound towards using only drums, guitar, and vocals."

Their sound in their own words:
"Both of us have very different tastes in music. I am more of a metalcore and melodic hardcore fan. Zach’s preferences, I would say, are a bit heavier, a bit thrashier. The music we make really tends to be where we find common ground.

"It’s a lot of fun working with someone whose taste in music doesn't line up perfectly with my own. I tend to really fall in love with the music we make, partly because I don’t feel like it’s coming straight out of my own head. I get to watch Zach shred on drums and just try to keep up while we write. For fans of Counterparts, Comeback Kid, Misery Signals, Deafheaven, Converge, and Knocked Loose."

Latest release info:
"
Our new release is titled Absolute Hell, and we recorded the entire thing ourselves and didn't spend any money while doing so. The mixing and mastering was done by our friend Rob Coxford, and the artwork by another friend, Paul Pearson. They both just wanted to help get this project off the ground and volunteered their efforts.

"We really tried to stay true to our live sound on the recording, and only wrote in a way we knew we could replicate in a live setting. That said, we really pushed what we thought we could do, given that limitation. It’s fun working within the constraints of just two instruments and attempting to create an ebb and flow for such a heavy style of music over the course of an album.

"Zach and I really tried to make an album that had an intensity and energy to it, but also gave the listener a few moments to catch their breath and not feel like they’re just being bombarded with sound for 23 minutes. When we perform live, it's also nice to have those calmer moments to give ourselves a few seconds to catch our breath."

Future plans:
"We will be spending the next few months, hopefully just playing shows, and maybe even writing more. We’ve been learning as we go in terms of self-production, so every release just inspires us to make more music, as we’re able to look back on what we’ve made so far, and see what has worked and what hasn’t. I’m stoked to expand upon the sound we’ve been working on for the last few years."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"My good friend Paul did the artwork for the album- he is the vocalist for another Toronto band, Iodine, so shout out to him. Iodine rules, and as mentioned before, he’s really gone out of his way to help get our project off the ground.

“Laser Mountain is another Toronto band I’m big on right now. Their guitarist/vocalist, Bartle, is just the friendliest dude, and a pleasure to be around at shows. Also, they rip. Fellow bands with friendly, helpful attitudes just make the entire scene more enjoyable, so I’m just grateful for both of them being a part of it."
